Nomination for Asia Pacific Leadership Award 2024

 

The Organiser

Asia Pacific Regional Committee, WAGGGS

 

Purpose

The award is presented to

  • recognise the achievement of adult leaders who have acquired a high level of self-development that has enabled them to provide good quality Girl Guiding to girls and young women, empowering them to realise their full potential;
  • recognise adult leaders with outstanding contributions in their area of service at the Unit / District / Division / Region levels who stand out as role models;
  • offer incentive and motivation to effective adult leaders actively involved in the Guiding Movement to carry on the mission of the Movement

 

Nominator

Any adult member of the HKGGA can nominate a candidate who fulfills the award criteria and whose nomination is endorsed by the nominee's supervising Commissioner/staff

 

Selection Process

Nomination Period: From now until 7 20 January 2024

Selection Period: January 2024

Selection Committee: The International Commissioner will coordinate the formation of a Selection Committee which will compose of 3-4 Commissioners at HQ Level.

Submission of Nomination: Successful candidates will be formally submitted to the Asia Pacific Regional Committee by 31 January 2024 for endorsement.

 

Award Criteria

Guider

  • Has been a Guider for more than 5 years
  • Is an active member of the Association
  • Holds a valid warrant/appointment to demonstrate that she qualifies to lead girls/young women in the unit
  • Achieved recognition at headquarters level as an outstanding unit leader, either in the form of an award, certificate or equivalent credentials
  • Has made a significant contribution as a volunteer in her unit in the last 5 years
  • Continues to develop herself and in her role as adult leader to girls/young women
  • Has influenced and helped another adult to be a unit leader
  • Has co-operated with local bodies, Government Organizations and/or Non-Government Organizations to involve her unit in community development projects suited to her unit
  • Has promoted effectively WAGGGS projects and/or programmes to her girls/young women in the unit
  • Has a positive and constructive relationship with girls/young women in her unit
  • Has participated in international or Mainland exchange programmes

 

Commissioner

  • Has been a Commissioner for more than 5 years
  • Is an active member of the Association
  • Holds a valid warrant/appointment to demonstrate that she qualifies to lead the adults in the District/Division/HQ
  • Achieved recognition at headquarters level as an outstanding district/division leader, either in the form of an award, certificate or equivalent credentials
  • Continues to develop herself and in her role as district/division leader for adult
  • Has made a significant contribution as a volunteer in her District/Division in the last 5 years
  • Has influenced and helped another adult to be a district/division leader
  • Has co-operated with local bodies, Government Organisations and/or Non-Government Organisations to organize community development projects suited to her district/division
  • Has promoted effectively WAGGGS projects and/or programmes to her District/Division
  • Has a positive and constructive relationship with the adults and young women in her District/Division
  • Has promoted a balanced representation of age in decision-making positions at her District/Division
  • Has participated in international or Mainland exchange programmes

 

Professional

  • Is employed full time by the Association for at least 5 years OR has volunteered for at least 5 years
  • Has consistently performed her/his job responsibilities at levels above and beyond normal expectations
  • Has given significant contribution to the promotion of Asia Pacific and WAGGGS within and outside the organisation
  • Is a role model to other staff/volunteers
  • For staff only – engages volunteer and staff involvement beyond job, within and outside the Association
  • For staff only – has continued to develop herself in her/his role as professional staff

 

Nomination Process

The nomination will be submitted via GGMS. Please read the nomination procedure before starting the progress.

*Before filling in the form, please take note of the following:
a. The nominee needs to fill in the nominator's membership number
b. Please update your profile in GGMS before filling in the form
c. If some of your Guiding records are not shown in your profile (such as past exchange experience), you can add it into the nomination form by yourself. If you want to add them back to your profile, please contact the Office after the completion of the nomination period.
d. Only the experience as a Guider / Commissioner / volunteer / staff will be taken into account. Nominees do not have to submit the records of other sections, such as Brownie, Guide and Ranger sections.

Presentation of Award

Presentation Ceremony will be arranged at an appropriate time/occasion.
