Guide Shield Competition 2019 aims to share joy of guiding skills, to enhance corporation and team spirit through work, details as following:

The maximum intake for final will be 30 units for Guide Section and 10 units for Ranger Section. If the numbers of participating unit exceed the above, the heat will be hosted. If so, all units will be informed in mid-Feb 2019 by email with all details.

Content of Competition

Heat: Pioneering

Final: “Pioneering”, “STEM”

Participants

Guides and Ranger (Age is calculated as of 31st August 2019)

 

Guides Section – Girl Guides aged between 10 and 18;

Ranger Section – Rangers and Sea Rangers aged between 15 and 23;

Air Rangers aged between 17 and 23

Attire

Full Outdoor uniform (please refer to HKGGA’s Policy, Organization and Rules document)

Extreme Weather Condition Arrangement

Situation 1: If the competition needs to be cancelled according to HKGGA Safety Rules and Guidelines for Activities, or the venue is closed.

  • The finals will be postponed to 26 May 2019.

Situation 2: If only indoor activities are permitted according to HKGGA Safety Rules and Guidelines for Activities, and the venue is available for use.

  • The final will continue.

Remarks

  1. Participants have to arrange their own transportation.
  2. Due to the venue policy, participants have to order lunch provided by the canteen contractor.
  3. Any information regarding to the finals will be announced during the briefing session
  4. Participating team have to prepare the following materials and bring them along for the competition.
  • Bamboo sticks and ropes
  • Identity document with photo
  • Notebook computer with Type-A USB plug (Please bring it on the briefing session and final, and it has to install related software application for competition use)
  • Statement (Participant) or Statement (Parent/Guardian)
