Child Protection Policy

The Hong Kong Legislation Chapter 650 "Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance" will take effect on January 20, 2026. Its primary purpose is to protect children and prevent the occurrence of abusive behavior. This law aims to enhance societal awareness regarding child protection, ensuring that every child can live in a safe environment.

The main policy goal of the "Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse Ordinance" is to establish a comprehensive and effective protection network for children. This is achieved by requiring designated professionals within the social welfare, education, and medical sectors to report serious child abuse cases. The objective is to facilitate early identification, intervention, and prevention of abuse, while also alerting potential abusers, ultimately ensuring children's safe development.

As a local youth uniformed group for girls, the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association is committed to upholding children's rights, in accordance with the United Nations "Convention on the Rights of the Child," allowing them to enjoy the right to protection.

To this end, the Association updates its policy content to align with the new ordinance.
