The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant Intergenerational Responsible Citizenship Project (CPG-IRCP) Interest Class 2016/2017 - Phase II (CPG-IRCP) Hong Kong History Class (CPG16-09)

In order to enhance the sense of belonging towards our birthplace- Hong Kong, a two-day interest class, named Hong Kong History Class (尋覓昔日龍城足跡), was organized by the Kowloon City Division on 12 and 26 Nov 2017. More than 50 Brownies, Guides and Golden Guides visited places such as Kowloon Walled City Park(九龍城寨公園), Hoi Sham Park (海心公園), Stonehouses (石屋家園) and Hau Wong Temple (侯王廟) with the guidance of a professional tour guide. Girl Guides took field trips to the historical heritage and listened to interesting stories behind the sites. The Storehouses displayed the ancestors living places such as their roofless toilets , shared kitchens, TV programs and toys. Girl Guides learnt the spirit of perseverance and resilience from the ancestors. Also, interactive activities and games fostered Girl Guides intergenerational communications and understanding. The activity completed successfully, not only has it provided the Girl Guides with Hong Kong History knowledge, but also strengthen their Guiding friendships.
