The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant Intergenerational Responsible Citizenship Project (CPG-IRCP) Make a Difference service project-New Territories East Division
The three-day program named ”Fun Inclusive Community Project with friends of Intellectual Disabilities智友樂同遊”, was held by New Territories East Division on 5, 12 and 26 November. It provided more than 30 Brownies, Girl Guides and Golden Guides an opportunity to understand more about the people with intellectual disabilities through workshops, group games and community explorations.
One of the Golden Guides 賴少萍 of NT GG沙田多元化 said though they have lived in Sha Tin for long, they did not aware there was group of people they had neglected, but deserved their care and attention. This activity was meaningful to raise their concern about the disadvantaged in the community. Girl Guide梁文馨 of 148 NT COY also commented that spending time with the beneficiaries for three days, they have known each other well and become good friends. Through interactive activities, the Girl Guides discovered that the people with intellectual disabilities are more cheerful and talkative than what they expected before. The activity was successfully completed, as well as promoted integration and harmony among our members, the targeted beneficiaries and the community.
