Recruitment of Participants for the Asia Pacific Young Women in Governance Network

The captioned Network is a year-long “taster” programme for young women in the Asia Pacific Region (AP Region) to learn about governance, develop related skills and have a support network with other like-minded young women. Each Member Organisation in the AP Region can nominate 2-3 young women to participate.

Objective

• To allow young women to learn about aspects of governance and then have the chance to experience governance in a supported environment. 
• To introduce participants to governance within WAGGGS and some of the skills that they can further develop. 

Content
The programme will be divided into three phases:

• Discovery: Meet each other, learn about the different elements of governance within Member Organisations and decision-making structures within WAGGGS.
• Develop: Have taster sessions in key skills identified for Governance, think about their interests and how they can further develop these within their communities and Member Organisations.
• Practice: Sessions simulating Board meetings and decision making processes.

Duration

• The network will be convened for a period of 12 months from November 2023 to November 2024
• Participants need to commit to attending a monthly 1.5hr online session and doing approximately 30 minutes of preparatory work before each session.

Commitment from Participants

• Attending and actively participating in as many sessions as possible
• Complete any pre-session tasks as required

Criteria

• A current and active HKGGA members aged 18-30 years old.
• Passionate about Girl Guiding, WAGGGS knowledge, leadership mindsets, governance and advocacy.
• Be able to communicate in English and willing to participate actively in discussions.
• Both those currently holding governance roles within HKGGA (such as Commissioner, Division Team or Resource Pool Member, etc.) and those without any governance experience and roles are welcome to apply.
