NTS Division - A Cultural Experience Journey Through Time

Purpose of activity:

  • The event aims to provide opportunities for Girl Guides to broaden their horizons, understand Japan in the transition from old to new, experience the harmonious coexistence of technological development and traditional culture, reflect on the development direction of Hong Kong and the challenges and opportunities it will face, and deepen participants' understanding of the future. Awareness of cultural diversity and heritage.
  • Through on-site inspections of environmental protection companies in Japan, we can learn about the environmental protection technology and sustainable development of the developing country, thereby exploring the feasibility of building incinerators in Hong Kong and how to achieve sustainable development and a recycling-oriented society.
  • Through different types of DIY courses, students can make traditional Japanese handicrafts and food with their own hands, and experience and feel the unique culture of Japan.
  • Through group collaboration and discussion, students can improve their problem-solving abilities and learn how to get along with others, and cultivate their independent learning spirit and ability to think from multiple perspectives.

Selection will be conducted after the deadline for registration.

Cost:

The tour fee is HK$4,800, and a deposit of HK$2,000 is required.

  • After the interview is successful, the tour fee and deposit will be paid. Please make the check payable to "Hong Kong Girl Guides Association" and write the participant's name, team number and activity name on the back.
  • Please pay the deposit with 2 crossed cheques. The deposit will be refunded after completing the trip with the group and attending the sharing session.
  • This fee includes round-trip transportation from Hong Kong to Osaka, travel insurance, accommodation, local tour bus transportation, meals, exchange and activity fees, etc.
  • The remaining fees are subsidized by the New Territories Local Association, Kwai Chung and Tsuen Tsing branches and New Territories Southern District.

If not accepted, no further notice will be given. Once the registration is accepted, the fees paid will not be refunded unless canceled due to insufficient number of registrations.

Sharing Session:

MUST ATTEND

Sharing session for our group – will be held at the end of April or early May

Participants must:

  • Able to communicate in English or Japanese
  • Participate in pre-event preparation meetings, prepare exchange activities, assist leaders in completing assigned tasks, attend review meetings and produce event reports
  • Prepare sharing programs for exchange activities with local youth, including Girl Scout skills, songs, crafts, interactive games, souvenir making, etc.
  • Share event experiences on “Sharing Day”

Remarks:

Travel insurance - The conference will purchase basic travel insurance for all participants. If necessary, please purchase it according to your personal needs. (Relevant basic travel insurance information will be uploaded to the federation’s website later)
