HKGGA OA Conversation with Interest Badges (2024 Version)

 

 

For Girl Guides or Rangers under HKGGAOA, if they have attained some interest badges, they could be exempted from the corresponding section of HKAYP. Similarly, if Girl Guides or Rangers completed particular sections under HKAYP, they could be awarded with the appropriate interest badge certificates.

 

Please bring your record book to Programme Department, 1/F, HKGGA Headquarters (8 Gascoigne Road, Kowloon) for conversion.

 

Service Section

Guide Section

Interest Badge Conversion
Service Flash (Bronze)
  • Service Flash (Bronze) is equivalent to the same topic in the Service Section of the Bronze Level of the HKAYP.
Service Flash (Silver)
  • Service Flash (Silver) is equivalent to the same topic in the Service Section of the Silver Level of the HKAYP.
Service Flash (Gold)
  • If using the Service Flash (Gold) as the corresponding item for the Service Section at the Gold Level* of the HKAYP, please discuss with the HKGGAOA before initiating the activity. A proposal must be submitted before the assessment. After completing the service, please submit the activity records and the evaluation report.
  • Candidates who have completed the Service Section at the Gold Level of the HKAYP in corresponding item are qualified for the Service Flash (Gold).

 

Ranger Section

Interest Certificate Conversion
Home Nursing
  • Candidates who have completed the Service Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
  • If using the Home Nursing Interest Certificate as the corresponding item for the Service Section at the Gold Level* of the HKAYP, a proposal must be submitted in advance. After obtaining the relevant certificate, a minimum of 40 hours of practical service related to the training must be completed.
Community Service
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Service Section at the Progressive Silver/ Direct Silver (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Service Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
Serving People with Special Needs
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Service Section at the Progressive Silver/ Direct Silver (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Service Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
Environmental Protection
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Service Section at the Progressive Silver/ Direct Silver (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Service Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.

  • Candidates who have completed the Adventurous Journey Section at the Bronze Level or above of the HKAYP in the "Hiking" are qualified for this badge.
Map Reading
  • Holders of this badge are qualified for the theoretical part of map reading training in the Adventurous Journey Section at the Bronze Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Adventurous Journey Section at the Silver Level or above of the HKAYP are qualified for this badge.
Camping
  • Holders of this badge are qualified for the theoretical part of campcraft and youth hostel knowledge in the Adventurous Journey Section at the Bronze Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Adventurous Journey Section at the Silver Level or above of the HKAYP can be exempted from the Syllabus for items II, the cooking part of the item III and the one-night-and-two-day camp.
Outdoor Cooking
  • Candidates who have completed the Adventurous Journey Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP are qualified for this badge.

 

Ranger Section

Interest Certificate & Permit Conversion
Campcraft
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the campcraft training of the Adventurous Journey Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Adventurous Journey Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP can be exempted from the Syllabus for items I, II, IV, V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI of this certificate.
Overnight Hiking Permit
  • Candidates who have completed the Adventurous Journey Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP are qualified for this permit. 

 

Physical Recreation Section

  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze Level or above of the HKAYP in the "Orienteering" topic are qualified for this badge.

  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
Sports
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate. (Must specify the chosen activity)
Orienteering
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate. (Note: Must hold the Orienteering Level 2 Certificate from the Hong Kong Orienteering Association for equivalence)
Archery
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze/ Progressive Silver/ Direct Silver (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
Dancing
  • Holders of this certificate are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze/ Progressive Silver/ Direct Silver (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
Health and Physical Fintness
  • Holders of this certificate who participate in activities for a minimum of 6 months OR complete recognized training for a minimum of 26 hours, are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Silver (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Silver Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this certificate.
Sailing Permit
  • Holders of this permit are qualified for the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze (Minors) Level of the HKAYP.
  • Candidates who have completed the Physical Recreation Section at the Bronze Level of the HKAYP in the corresponding item are qualified for this permit.

 

Remarks：

  • Girl Guides and Rangers can complete the interest badges/ certificates and also obtain awards from the HKAYP by referring to this Conversion with Interest Badges scheme.
  • Girl Guides and Rangers who are 13 years old or above can apply to become members of the HKAYP and purchase a record book through the HKGGAOA. Only activities undertaken after successfully enrolling for membership in the HKGGAOA under the HKAYP and obtaining the record book will be counted and can be converted with the interest badges/ certificates.
  • Participants must complete at least two sections before starting the next level of activities. The activities initiated must belong to one of the two completed lower level sections. Participants must meet the minimum age requirement for the level.
  • *For Gold Award activities, you need to submit the proposal at least 1 month before the starting date. After the HKGGAOA review, the proposal will be submitted to the Award Office for Section Panels' approval. The activities can only begin after receiving notification of approval from the Section Panels. Late submissions may not be accepted.
