Hong Kong Girl Guides Association re-joined the Hong Kong Award for Young People in Feb 2000 as one of the Operation Authority. Through mutual cooperation with the Hong Kong Award for Young People, to flourish the youth training for both the organisations.

More than 140 countries around the world have set up their Girl Guides Association, with more than 10 million members. They also made agreements with the International Award for Young People Association for mutual recognition of each other's qualifications. Girl Guides and other youth training could be complementary with each other.  As from September 1999, some of the Interest Badge are equivalent to the requirements of the Hong Kong Award for Youth People.  That means if Girl Guide or Ranger attained an interest badge, it would be equivalent to the appropriate section of AYP in particular level.
